We’re proud to share Starting Line: The Team Joshua Story, a new documentary featuring our customer, Joshua.
The film follows Vancouver mother-and-son team Michelle Gentis and Josh Gentis Hall. Josh lives with a rare brain disorder and significant physical disabilities. As he grew older, opportunities to participate in sports and community activities became increasingly limited.
Running offered a new path forward.
What began as a form of therapy for Michelle grew into a shared pursuit: competing in marathons while Michelle pushes Josh in his racing chair. For Josh, racing is about more than crossing a finish line—it offers the chance to participate, connect with others and feel part of a community.
Their journey has challenged assumptions about who belongs in competitive sport and what athletes with diverse abilities can accomplish. Now, Team Joshua is working toward its most ambitious goal yet: completing all seven World Marathon Majors in 2027.
Directed by Josh Richardson and filmed in Vancouver, Langley and Coquitlam, Starting Line shares the determination behind that goal—the preparation, uncertainty and everyday moments that make each achievement possible.
Most importantly, it is a story about inclusion and the difference it makes when people are given meaningful opportunities to participate.
We’re honoured to see Team Joshua’s story reach a wider audience, and we encourage our community to watch and share the documentary.
